The description doesn't list it but, at least for the one I ordered from Amazon, it came with voice alerts.The voice alert is really useful because you don't have to look down to see if it's detecting the common X band (from a pharmacy) or if its laser in which case you know something is awry.If you can get a deal on one, go for it.

(More customer reviews)purchased this detector for 12 hour drives through 4 states I make about 5 times a year.Amazon's price was great and I did not expect this unit to compete with others costing 3x or 4x more.When mounted high on the front windshield, it has "OK" range - not great - but OK.It receives all the most common law enforcement radars in use today, but when it sounds off the transmitter is not all that far away - trust it and slow down for anything other than an "X Band" alert (I will probably turn that off in the menu )I really like the auto volume control where it will turn down the alert volume after the first alarm - you don't need to listen to the beeping alarm at full volume.The voice announce of the type of radar is good also, you don't even need to look at the unit display to know what type of radar is being used.I hate the short curley power cord....made my own out of straight wire (Cobra sells one, but I'm too cheap).Good unit for the price !

(More customer reviews)Pros: easy to read screen, plenty of set up options, scans all the widley used bands, sleep screen option, seems to be not as sensitive to false signals.

Cons: LARGE size, short power cord, signal indicators.

Unit was easy to set up and in the first 30days of operation has done a good job. It takes some time to get use to the screen changes but does identify the siginal that is tracking you giving you a better idea if it is a false siginal or Johny law. Worth the price - it saved me twice so far avg ticket $150 bucks it paid for itself.

The most important thing I want to say about this one is...It does NOT have that ever annoying BEEP BEEP that penetrates through your skull that forces you to mute the thing and then you forget it went off and see the source of the detection!! IT HAS A PLEASANT TONE (as pleasant as a tone warning you about a speed trap can be...)!!And it even slowly fades quieter... Oh... I LOVE this detector! I plan on replacing all my others with this model! On a side note.. it is also much moer light weight than others.. so when you hit one of those front-end killing pot holes thatare all over our great nation, it will NOT fall dramatically from you windsheild mount and cause you to swerve throught the highway lane....

(More customer reviews)Ok, let me start off by saying, " for a hundred bucks, it aint too bad!" It doesn't have the best range, but it does have a good deal of features to play with. It actually doesn't false too much more than other detectors I own (bel 955, whistler pro 78). Definately has less range than those two, but at least it mutes itself without having to push a button like the bel! That to me is a big issue. Reaching up to the window to push a little button while driving can be a little hazerdous! HaHa. It does have nice tones to it's alarms unlike the screeching bel and is fairly loud. It does have a nice coiled cord unlike the whistler which uses a straight one that flops around in front of my radio. The display can be tough to see in daylight at times. It seems to me, Cobra is just putting a product out there to make max profit! Where bel and whistler seem to put more emphasis on quality and performance. And the prices reflect it. That's really the difference here! Like I said, it's not bad for the price, and it really does detect radar albeit from less range than most. So if you're budget doesn't allow more expensive units, I'd say this isn't a bad choice.
