(More customer reviews)I just bought the new model - but I had the old model before that and it was the best radar detector I have had ytd.I even have a K40 built in ($2,200) in my Porsche and I regret getting this. If I had to do it again I would just stick with RockyMountainRadar....
I had one ticket once - nothing is foolproof (I was coming up over a hilltop and there was no way anyone would have picked up the signal - and at that point I was too close - but I have had NUMEROUS instances where I was going too fast and the noisemaker allowed me to slow down and pass)
Like any other detector I basically ignore the X band as its a false alarm 99.5% of the time... And you need to drive for a while to "learn" the detector to figure out your false alarm areas or triggers - as well as if you go too too fast no Detector will save you anyway... So I only use it in order to stay out of nuisance tickets and still get there in time :o) (and maybe because of my lead foot)

Radar/Laser Detector
The RMR-C450 gives you 360-degree detection of all Radar bands (X, K, Ka, SuperWide, Pulse, Instant-On) and all Laser Speed Devices (Pro-Laser, LTI, Laser-Lite, and Stalker). Adaptive laser tracking (ALT) ensures better laser performance.
Integrated Radar/Laser Scrambler
In addition to detection, The RMR-C450 will scramble all radar and Lidar guns.
Brilliant alert screen with dimmer.

Laser Scrambler
Lidar sends out laser pulses and measures how long it takes to hit your car and come back. From the speed of light it can determine your range. It sends out several more pulses and calculates your speed from the change in distance over time. The RMR-C450 transmits pulses electronically timed at 100 feet apart. This only allows the Lidar to see up to 100 feet so it is unable to calculate your speed.


Radar Scrambler
It works on all police radar bands (X, K, Ka, super wide). Inside the scrambler are 3 elements: an FM chirp generator, a mixer diode and a dual ridge wave-guide antenna. When the scrambler is hit by a signal it runs it through the mixer, adding the FM chirp to mix up the signal and using the antenna, reflect back this new signal to the radar gun. The radar gun's computer can't recognize the new signal; it gets confused and won't display a reading on the gun, leaving a blank screen.

Voice Alert
Voice Alert with Intelli-Voice voice synthesis keeps you aware while you keep your eyes on the road. Plus it's bilingual--select between English/Spanish.
Advanced Micro-Scan
Scans the radar bands 2-4 times faster than as any other detector. This allows Rocky Mountain devices to pick up the new P.O.P. radar that no one else can.
Smart-Scan
When Rocky Mountain devices detect radar in one scan, they repeat that scan, instead of completing programmed scans and returning. This means they detect quicker with less false alarms than any other detector.
VG-2 and VG-3 Immunity
VG-2 and VG-3 are devices police use to detect radar detectors. This model provides the benefit of 'undetectability' by alerting you to the presence of VG-2 and VG-3 signals.
Safety Alert and Safety Warning System
The RMR-C450 unit incorporates the Safety Alerts (SA) and Safety Warning Systems (SWS) detection. This safety feature warns you of the presence of potential road hazards by detecting signals from safety transmitting devices.
City Mode
The false-alert are often caused in urban areas by automatic door openers and alarm systems. The RMR-8RD features a City mode,in which the X band is not detected and K/Ka band sensitivity is lowered.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit a few months ago and I am happy with it.The windshield clip is pretty lame and I do not like the way it blocks part of the view out my windshield.I went to whistlers web site and ordered a non-skid pad to set the unit directly on the dashboard.My dashboard is flat and it sits well on there and does not slide around.Until I got that pad, I was not real happy with the mounting options. You could do the same thing with two way tape, or Velcro - but it would be hard to remove the unit and put the unit in the glove box when the car is parked.
I wanted a cordless unit so I don't have the power cable hanging across the dashboard. I like the rechargeable feature, if the batteries go dead while I am driving, I just plug in the adapter and I can still use the unit while it is charging.

Cons: LARGE size, short power cord, signal indicators.

Unit was easy to set up and in the first 30days of operation has done a good job. It takes some time to get use to the screen changes but does identify the siginal that is tracking you giving you a better idea if it is a false siginal or Johny law. Worth the price - it saved me twice so far avg ticket $150 bucks it paid for itself.

(More customer reviews)I looked through tons of reviews and I have become convinced that the Rocky Mountain Radar Detectors are the best for the money. The only complaint on the other Rocky Mountain detectors that bothered me was that they go through a beeping cycle every time you turn the car on. That seems annoying.

I tried this one before there were any reviews on it and it has an option to turn that off. Just turn off the "TEST MODE" in the options and it doesn't beep when you turn it on. I never know that it is there until it spots a cop's radar. Sometimes it goes off around department store entrances, but other than that it works great and it has saved me from getting tickets just in the last few weeks.

I bought another one or my wife's minivan and she loves it too.

(More customer reviews)The Beltronics GX65 is the best radar detector that I have ever owned.I have had many over the years including the Valentine V1.Although this is a good detector, the GX65 gives me more warning on the signals that matter as well as not having to worry about listening to it go off for the wrong reason (You tell it what you want to not listen to).The other thing that is great about this detector is the pre-warning it gives when you are approaching a red-light camera.It tells you exactly where these are before it is too late.
Very well built, you can immediately tell you are not buying a product that skimps on material.The GX65 also comes with a very well written owners manual that is easy to understand.
Recommend very highly!!

(More customer reviews)Ok, let me start off by saying, " for a hundred bucks, it aint too bad!" It doesn't have the best range, but it does have a good deal of features to play with. It actually doesn't false too much more than other detectors I own (bel 955, whistler pro 78). Definately has less range than those two, but at least it mutes itself without having to push a button like the bel! That to me is a big issue. Reaching up to the window to push a little button while driving can be a little hazerdous! HaHa. It does have nice tones to it's alarms unlike the screeching bel and is fairly loud. It does have a nice coiled cord unlike the whistler which uses a straight one that flops around in front of my radio. The display can be tough to see in daylight at times. It seems to me, Cobra is just putting a product out there to make max profit! Where bel and whistler seem to put more emphasis on quality and performance. And the prices reflect it. That's really the difference here! Like I said, it's not bad for the price, and it really does detect radar albeit from less range than most. So if you're budget doesn't allow more expensive units, I'd say this isn't a bad choice.
